Mixing is the process of modifying and unifying recorded musical parts into a cohesive final product that reflects the artist's creative vision. As a science and an art, mixing requires both technical skill and imagination and we take great pride in bringing your vision to life.

We're used to working on cross-genre projects and projects with high track counts, so if your pop-metal mashup masterpiece really needs to have 60 layers of Mongolian throat singing, lay it on us. We're up to the challenge.

How long does it take to mix a song?

Since opening the studio in 2001, this remains the most common question and, unfortunately, most difficult to answer.
Imagine a puzzle with two pieces - it’s very easy to work out where they should go. Now think of a much larger puzzle; it takes longer to find the correct place for each piece. But what if the pieces don’t quite fit? In this situation, sounds may need to be reshaped with the goal of preserving the tonality and aesthetic of the song.
Including 1-2 rounds of standard revisions, mixing a song typically takes between 6 and 10 hours, but can vary widely.

We charge an hourly rate for mixing and editing services, billed in 5 minute increments, and keep a log of this on the studio computers. This way you only pay for the time you use.

Once a song has been mixed, it will be sent to the client for review. If there are any changes requested, the client submits their requests on Stacktune with time stamps and their best description of each change. An updated version of the mix will be delivered to the client.
